Lucid Dreaming Radio and Dream Theater

Two great dream events to point you to today. The first is an interview with the editor of the Lucid Dream Exchange on Coast to Coast Radio. Veteran lucid dream educator Robert Waggoner provides a balanced history of lucid dreaming research, and then discusses the distinction between lucid dreams, control dreams, and precognitive dreams.

And this next shout-out is for the San Francisco Bay dream community. ParaTheatrical ReSearch is putting on a dream theater performance October 5th in Berkeley. This devoted group of artists and visionaries has been around since the 1970s, mixing up improv theater with martial arts and circus-inspired performance. Next week they are performing a Dreaming Ritual Demonstration:

A ritual is any external activity capable of catalyzing specific internal states of consciousness on purpose. The paratheatrical dreaming rituals we are exploring here are constructed with kinetic remnants excavated from our dreams into a precise choreography that, when performed fully conscious, trigger the forces, images and emotions innate to the dreams they originated from.

The four chief aims of these dreaming rituals are:

1. Spiritual: to know unity between “dreamtime” and “daytime” realities.

2. Mental: to enter the dream with the intention of recalling movements.

3. Emotional: to bypass psychological interpretation in lieu of catharsis

4. Physical: to experience dream through the awakened body in action.

And that, folks, is the dream work.
