I am 41 and have been having lucid dreams even before I knew what they were. I was 10 when I had my first one. My first was "fear" I was riding my bike trying to get away from someone chasing me, but they were getting closer. I willed a garbage can to be thrown into their way and I was able to get away. I realized then, that I was dreaming. However, it was harder to make larger objects move than smaller ones, brought on by fear. I could also will myself into another place. I had one where I was flying - not flapping my arms but by using balloons to levitate to different places, it wasn't too easy to control and did take effort on my part to stay with the dream. I always knew when I was dreaming, though. Incredible way of enjoying sleep.... :D

I have used a method similar to this for years to fall asleep, it is recalling the dream I had the night before or any recent dream for that matter and I am fast asleep. Also this method works for lucid dreaming when you awake keep mindful of the dream you are in and when you return that is where the lucidity will start to engage.

thanks ya'll for the feedback.

Kate - great additional thought. strong emotions are a sure way to lead from the gut or what Arnold Mindell calls the "dream body."

Wow, you have beautifully told the story of the importance of strong intention in not only dream incubation, but anything you want to achieve in life. Ryan, you are a guru of dreams.

A great article Ryan, thank you.
I do believe in the power of dreams and the notion of incubating them to help solve many of the issues that we face today. I've definitely got to incorporate this into my life ASAP.

I find that dream incubation is easiest when I have extremely strong emotions behind the desire to dream about whatever. Extreme anger, crazy-in-love, etc.
