The Dream Portal is a community for creatives, seekers and healers
Dreaming is the safest and most reliable gateway to self-knowledge. Whether your primary intentions are for healing, spiritual belonging or creative reverie, dreaming is a powerful way of knowing.
In the Dream Portal, we honor the mysteries of dreaming and related altered states of consciousness from the perspective of holistic studies. We make room for the scientific, the practical, and the spiritual. I call this full spectrum dreaming. And by doing do this weird and wonderful work together, we are helping create a new dreaming culture.
Look inside The Dream Portal
When we make space for our dreams, something magical happens. We feel more alive, and more in touch with our inner needs and ambitions. Our creative life flourishes. Our work takes on new meaning.
We let ourselves rest. We slow down. We heal.
Our relationships deepen as we learn the language of emotions. We become more authentic and start attracting more authentic people to our sphere.
We wake up to our lives. We become fully lucid.
And we feel more connected with the Big Dream, our personal sense of the divine and the Real.
Good dreamwork—and safe dreamwork—can take time.
It's so easy to lose motivation when we are the only dreamer in our social circle. So many of us are isolated and unaware of how to build the foundations of a personal dreamwork practice.
That's why I built the Dream Portal.
Inside The Dream Portal, we're a small group of dreamers, meditators and consciousness explorers sharing as we practice. Not only does The Dream Portal encourage you to stay focused on your intentions, but you also get the benefit of learning from—and being inspired by—others.
The Dream Portal is a safe and nurturing membership community setting for delving into the mysteries of dreaming and related altered states of consciousness.
What’s great about this subscription model is it is less expensive than most online classes, and simultaneously more effective due to the supportive community and activities that sustain your motivation.
The basic subscription is quarterly, or for three months. We found that 3 months — a season — is the most realistic framework for transforming your rest-life and dream life, no matter your intentions.
The Dream Portal is built, by design, to be small, and we intend to keep it small so we can retain our community ethos of curiosity, courage, and compassion. We intend to grow sustainably, but never in a way that comprises this ethos.
We are a welcoming, interfaith and diverse community of dreamers. All new members agree to our ethical covenant for fair participation, which are drawn from the International Association from the Study of Dreams.
If you are looking to amplify your dreamlife and wake up to a more vivid world, and this community sounds like a good match, we invite you to join us.

Hey I’m Ryan. I'm an educator, dream researcher, author and community builder. I've had a really fun work life, and it's all coming together now in the Dream Portal.
First I studied archaeology, and spent a decade roaming around with a shovel, a screen and a fine eye for investigating the material markers of human behavior. As an archaeologist, I am trained in the science of inquiry and analysis. I have a deep respect for how history and culture entrain us. I also have a grounded perspective about our role in the natural world as the last remaining species of hominids. We are something special, y'all, but we have cognitively domesticated ourselves so much that we have forgotten the superpowers that come with our hypersocial big-brained human suit.
Then I went to graduate school in consciousness studies, and became a professional dream researcher and a certified dreamworker. As a social scientist, I am trained in qualitative and imaginal research methods. Today I lecture internationally and am frequently cited in the academic and popular press, especially in regards to lucid dreams, sleep paralysis night-mares, and the anthropology of consciousness.
Next, I became a religious professional and a spiritual leader, serving a liberal (and mostly humanist/agnostic) congregation in Philadelphia as Director of Spiritual Development. There I focused on pastoral care, adult faith development and radical inclusion while teaching spiritual discernment to all ages, from kindergartners to elders. I run a pretty awesome youth group too. During this time, the pandemic hit. As a spiritual guide, I am trained in safeguarding a community to in troubling times.
These three skill sets—analyzing, intuiting, and safeguarding—are what make me uniquely qualified to lead this community of dreamers and visionaries.
What the last few years, in particular, have taught me is that dreaming, visioning and mindfulness can transform not only individuals but entire communities. Especially when times are hard.
In times of hardship, humans turn to dreams and other intuitive ways of knowing. In novel times, we must turn to novel thought, not for comfort, but to find creative and healing breakthroughs which can be applied to waking life.
That's what this is all about for me: helping dreamers like you become more courageous, compassionate and resilient in your life journey.
Here’s the truth. We live in a society that runs us ragged and we are all busy. We are all being told to grind with a cup of coffee in one hand and a glass of wine in the other. Most of us are exhausted and sleep deprived too. But I didn't build The Dream Portal to be just one more “should” to add your day. It's a place where your whole self is welcomed. The Dream Portal is nourishing.
Paradoxically, if you join us and sit in circle with us, you will probably find you have more time and energy for what’s most important. You will be spending less time doom scrolling and more time day dreaming. You’ll wake up refreshed and feeling courageous. You’ll be more emotionally in tune with your life, and more willing to tackle the hard stuff about being a human who shows up every day and fights for your community and your loved ones. I see you. I'm a parent. I get it.
So no, you don’t have to dedicate hours a week to the Portal. You won't "fall behind." It’s truly a non-anxious environment for cultivating a mindful and restful attitude to our imaginal lives. In the Dream Portal, we take our time and reflect. We sit with. We ponder. That’s a big part of the Dream Portal: just chilling out and remembering to breathe.
If you take it seriously, though, soaking in the nurturing environment (sharing dreams, taking one of the self-paced courses, joining our book group, doing some of the meditations), you will get the most out of the Portal. That’s true and I've seen some members make powerful transformations because they went all in. Read the testimonials: these are all busy people, and they are rocking their dreamworlds like never before.
But if you simply use the Portal as a place to check in and get grounded and inspired when you have the time, or ask for feedback about your weird dream last night, you’ll still going to get a lot of your membership.
I am really confident that the Dream Portal will transform your dream life and level up your imaginal skills.
However, if you find it’s not for you, I’m offering a 100% money back guarantee for the first two weeks after enrollment. You can cancel your membership without hassle. You can also upgrade or downgrade your membership level at anytime.
If you're tired of spinning your wheels, or just plain tired, ask yourself where you'd like to be with your dreaming goals in 12 weeks time. Try out the Dream Portal, and discover the community you've been looking for.
