And that's just the beginning! With this three week course, you'll be empowered to transition into lucid dreams and out of body experiences with confidence and curiosity.
Essential details: This is a live online workshop: March 6 - March 27th with 3 live sessions at 10AM Eastern / 1PM Eastern / 6PM London.
Course also includes recordings, dedicated forum, exclusive downloads and direct feedback from your instructor.
What is sleep paralysis? It's being aware of being immobilized when drifting off or waking up.
Sleep paralysis can be creepy, and let's be honest, terrifying.
However, sleep paralysis is natural, and also can also be your entryway into extraordinary dreaming.
This is how sleep paralysis is usually depicted -- as an Incubus monster sitting on the dreamer's chest, bringing fresh night-mares (get it?) to terrorize the frozen dreamer.
But this view is as outdated as this painting from 1781.
If you are an experiencer of sleep paralysis, you're not a victim. The phenomenon is a double-edged sword. That vulnerability actually turns out to be a powerful gift for calling big dreams.
This painting from William Blake (1803) is actually more accurate: as sleep paralysis visions can easily shift us into cosmic realms of healing, knowledge and transcendence.
This persepctive is not just new age propaganda, but drawn from the world's ethnography, and history of religious experience, and grounded from the perspective of transpersonal psychology and the latest scientific research.
What we experience as "sleep paralysis" is just the feeling of being stuck between two worlds --waking consensual reality and the Imaginal.
When we move beyond the fear of the unknown, new possibilities await.
This is a course for getting unstuck and becoming free.
So you'll prevent flare ups and be able to call SP visions when the time is right.
You'll turn the tables on the Incubus and Succubus, drawing boundaries and staying open for new information and healing moments.
Sleep paralysis and its related visions actually have led to immense creative breakthroughs, inspiration and self-discovery for dreamers throughout history.
Out of body experiences are one of the easiest flips from the sleep paralysis state once you know the right tactics.
Such as lucid dreaming, guided journeys and cosmic downloads. This is one of the richest secrets of sleep paralysis that lays in wait beyond the paralyzed threshold.
I'm Ryan Hurd, an award-winning lucid dreaming scholar and author of the book Sleep Paralysis, now in its 2nd edition.
I lecture internationally about sleep paralysis, lucid nightmares and related states of consciousness. One highlight was lecturing at Stanford University several times, invited by William Dement (you know, the so-called "father of sleep medicine") to share my unique perspective for his class "Sleep and Dreams." This is where I saw first hand how many people suffer with SP and are relieved to talk about it without judgment.
While I wrote my book Sleep Paralysis to help tens of thousands get over their fear of sleep paralysis, readers have asked for more support. That's exactly what this course is for.
My work is recommended by top tier dream researchers and healing professionals, including Dr. Leslie Ellis, Toko-pa Turner and Robert Moss.
Here’s what psychotherapist Brian Sharpless, PhD, author of Sleep paralysis: Historical, psychological, and medical perspectives said about my work:
“Hurd's interesting and extremely readable book helpfully includes tips for getting a better night’s sleep and ways to cope with this provocative (and sometimes scary) phenomenon.”
But honestly, my expertise is grounded in the personal… I’ve experienced sleep paralysis off and on since I was 14 years old. My own healing journey is what guides me in this exploration. I am motivated to teach what has helped me, especially all those years I was alone with my fears with no support from either scientific, spiritual, or even psychological communities.
This course is for people who already have sleep paralysis symptoms at least occasionally and are losing sleep over the experiences.
If you want to manage your sleep paralysis symptoms, this course will certainly help.
But if you want to leverage your sleep paralysis into journeys to the borderlands of consciousness, you’ll be an even better fit!
This course is also for caregivers, ministers, therapists and dreamworkers who want a better understanding of how to support clients with isolated sleep paralysis.
As psychotherapist Scott Sparrow said:
"Until meeting Ryan Hurd and learning about his research on sleep paralysis, I would cringe inwardly everytime I was asked, "What does it mean when I wake up and can't move? And who is that scary person who appears beside my bed?" But now I have an answer."
We meet on Thursdays at 10AM Pacific / 1PM Eastern / 6PM London. Dates are March 6, March 13, and March 20
Recordings, downloads, extra resources and conversations are all here
Ryan will be on hand to answer all your questions and focus your plans
My courses are always co-created by the needs and interests of students, so consider these themes as starting points for our exploration.
We discuss moving into right relationship with sleep paralysis, including self-protective and healing dimensions of the Encounter. Getting grounded and understanding the role of unconscious belief structures open the way.
Artists, writers, and creatives of all stripes have transformed their SP into new generative art. By moving beyond fear, we find the fruits of curiosity are often creative and expansive, rippling out into new potentials for waking life.
By remaining open to the cosmic and transpersonal aspects of the Encounter, we discover fresh outlook on the Big Picture and our role as embodied seekers. This includes new perspectives on out-of-body experiences, guided journeys, and radical encounter with nonhuman intelligences.
